We are a husband and wife team, Richard and Jennifer Coates. We have a real passion for capturing moments in time through the lens of our cameras.
Together we make a great team on any project, weather its a large wedding or a mother and baby shoot. We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable and this really shows in our images.
For us, it is essential that your photographs have integrity so we will not put you into any unnatural poses or try to create moments that are not there. Our overall aim is to capture individuals’ personalities, passions, style and provide you with images that you will cherish forever.
We understand how time consuming it is and it seems a never ending, massively time consuming trawl through the internet trying to find the right photographer for your special day . We remember how difficult it was to find the right person/company that fulfilled our expectations for our wedding day, someone that we could trust and make us feel comfortable in front of the camera.
What we promise you at Blackthorn photography when you choose us we will treat you and your important day as individual and as special as our own, to deliver high quality images and to do everything we can to make you at ease so that every single photo is natural, expresses your emotions and captures every special moment.
Wedding and Event Photography
Our style is to capture your special day as it happens, not to take over and get on everyone’s nerves. It is important to us that you are free to enjoy your special day so we take the time to get to know you and your personality well before the event and to understand exactly what sort of images you want. That way you are free to get on with enjoying yourself with your guests without any worry or stress, safe in the knowledge that not a single thing will be missed. We've all heard of so many stories of couples who have missed their champagne reception & not had a chance to chat with their guests because their wedding photographer has taken them off for hours for lots of poses. Instead we generally mix in a few formal-ish group shots, with the majority of the time photographing the fun at your party! Having said that......if you do want lots of formal posed images (especially if there is going to be that special relative that has travelled half way round the world to be at your wedding) we can cater to your needs and arrange set lists of groups of relatives for group shots well in advance of the big day. And we will make sure that we get every single shot you requested (yes even the teenage niece who hates having her photo taken!).
We dont believe in providing 'set' packages with 'set' prices. We tailor make our packages to suit your needs. We can cover a small informal event with only an hours photography all the way upto a large wedding at a castle complete with bridal and groom party preparations.
